Automating a work process to reduce Hand-Arm Vibration
‘Grinders were previously used to remove the excess metal left behind from casting’. ‘They now use a mechanised machining process that removes the metal, quickly and safely, without exposing the operative to any hand-arm vibration’.
In a foundry’s refractory/slag builds up inside the furnace vessel, once it is tipped out and cooled, this build up need to be removed before the process can be used again.
“Originally, the manual break-out of solidified slag accretions inside the furnace shell using a pneumatic breaker”
“Removing Hand-Arm Vibration exposure altogether and speeding up the process considerably, the hydraulic push-out system removes slag build-up from the furnace vessel during maintenance”
